introduction
Infanterie Regiment 208 are part of the 'Northern World War 2 Association' and was formed in June 2007 from existing members, who wanted to do just a little bit more with their living history displays.
While most of the Association hails from the North of England, events are staged anywhere from Durham to the Midlands. IR208 welcomes members from all over the country, with current members originating from Derbyshire, Staffordshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Humberside. The unit is open to invitations to events from anywhere in the UK.
Our aim is to authentically portray the average german infantryman on campaign, by relying on our research and experience from current members and other german units across the UK.
One unique aspect of IR208 is that they fought in multiple theatres throughout the War. With these in mind the group is able to portray the three different periods of ww2.
- Early War - Concentrating on the Battle for France in 1940
- Mid War - Operation Barbarosa and Stalingrad 1941 - 1943
- Late War - Concentrating on the Ardennes Offensive in 1944 - 1945
Through these three impressions we are able to show some subtle differences in uniform, equipment and even squad structure. Use the links to the left to see our relevant uniform and equiment lists for each.
